Neal Barton's POV

Remember Pearl Harbor

Friday, December 7, 2012 - 7:56pm

FDR called this day a day which will live in infamy. defines infamy as "extremely bad reputation, public reproach, or strong condemnation as the result of a shameful, criminal, or outrageous act."

I hope it still goes on in perpetuity. We need to remember this day forever.

The Japanese attacked us with no warning at Pearl Harbor. We had war declared on us and didn't even know it--- until then.

That whole war was a fight between good and evil. The Japanese joined ranks with the more evil forces in the world.

We went from a nation which was basically asleep to one which had to fight or die as a the country as we knew it.

We often skim over WWII in history books. That's if any history is even taught now a days.

We were caught unaware. The Axis had us by the throat for a long time. But, eventually, we got a second wind and won. Saving the American dream.

This was and still is a great country. We've been down before and have come back. We can do it again.

The American spirit is something that our foes often overlook. Once a man has had a taste of freedom, they know that is something that is not to be surrendered easily.

Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto realized after Japan's cowardly attack, they had indeed awakened a sleeping giant.

I don't even know if this story is taught in school anymore.

If it is, good on you. If not, shame on you.

That's my point of view, what's yours?
