Neal Barton's POV

Republican media darlings

This headline was in the Washington Post this morning:

"Mitch McConnell closes the deal ..Again."

He's like John McCain, a left-wing darling.

The Post says McConnell was right in the middle of the deal-making about the budget. You kept hearing about a clean continuing resolution.

Well, come to find out, it wasn't that clean, at all. It was full of pork.

For his trouble, McConnell gets an almost $3-billion dam project in his home state of Kentucky for sealing the deal. It's being called the "Kentucky kickback."

Here we are $17-trillion in the hole with a $6-trillion deficit. The budget bill was not about spending any more money. But, old Washington, D.C., won.

There is not a nickel's worth of difference between McConnell and Harry Reid.

A recent investigation by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch found that the project has run millions of dollars over budget and should have been completed, "years ago." The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers estimates that the project will not be fully complete until 2024.

McConnell's spokesman dodged a question about the funding provision when asked by local radio affiliate WFPL.

"Senators (Diane) Feinstein and (Lamar) Alexander, the chair and ranking member of the energy and water subcommittee, worked on the issue and can help you," spokesman Robert Steurer told the station.

Also porking up the place, former senator and now deceased senator Frank Lautenberg's widow gets $174,000 In Senate Budget Bill. Some senators are feigning outrage after finding out about both the widow's money and the dam project.

But, they voted anyway. One senator who was faking outrage actually told a reporter, this is why folks hate us.

Oh, yes.

That's my point of view, what's yours?

Unfortunately, that's the way things get done in D.C. Quid pro quo, I'll support your bill if you'll support mine or I'll support the bill if there's money in it for my district. And it's been that way pretty much always.

The only time in Texas history that we have had a balanced budget with a surplus and no bond debt was when the Democrats controlled our state government.

The only time in Texas history that our state education system and prison system was fully funded as required by our state constitution was under the leadership of Democrats.

Who was the only President in our Nations History to over see the national debt being paid off in full and what party did he belong to?

Who was the only President in our Nations History to sign into law and over see a balanced budget and what party did he belong to?

Most Americans don't take the time to see what their congressmen are passing. My rep Hensarling is a good example. The House still hasn't passed a budget. But as a senior member of the House Finacial Services Committee Jeb did help table H.R. 1135, the Burdensome Data Collection Relief Act. This bill will repeal the portion of Dodd-Frank that requires corporations to reveal the ratio between CEO pay and median worker pay. It's all about priorities, and we aren't one of them.

Funny how rick perry hates ObamaCare but he and the republicans / t-idiots have kicked Texas sickest residents / Citizens with pre-existing conditions out of the Texas insurance and telling them to sign up for ObamaCare.

The only difference between him and Dingy Harry is that I have not heard him call the Dems terrorists and hostage takers. But, if McConnell was from Texas, he would not be getting my vote anymore and I hope the people from Kentucky feel the same way but since they got their kickback, I doubt it.

There sure are a bunch of crickets in here. Where are all the T-Party people?

McConnell has all but announced his retirement earlier this year, media has been promoting his "moderate" successor in Kentucky. No longer responsible to his constituents, their votes meaningless to an insincere effort for re-election, McConnell is, "on the take". Texas has the right to divide into 7 states by charter with the US.. Should Texas do this then, we would have 7 times the representation in the senate. I propose that we divide Texas and attack the US senate with our conservatism.
