Let me say no one has more respect for Peace Officers than I do. My grandfather was one and from what I hear, a pretty good one. But, some of the tactics officers, especially federal officers, employed under this administration are suspect.

In Alaska, for example, there is a lot of federally owned land and a lot of free spirits inhabiting that great state.

The Alaska Dispatch reports, in the mining community of Chicken, less that 10 miners were digging for gold when all of the sudden they were pounced on by agents of the Alaska Environmental Crimes Task Force with jackets saying "police."

They demanded to know if any water rights were being broken. The miners told media, "Why didn't they just walk in the front door of their cabin and ask for a water sample."

Here's another story. A 70-year-old man was near Chicken on the Yukon River in his boat when he was shouted down by armed park rangers to stop for an inspection. The man cursed at them, and I don't recommend you do that, but he thought it was dumb for a river boarding and he took his boat to the shore.

He was taken to Fairbanks and found guilty my a Federal Magistrate for not puling over fast enough and then more miners from Chicken, population 17, were swarmed by more federal agents who were armed with body armor.

They were there to make sure miners were complying with the clean water act.

Really?

So, after people raised Hell, the two senators in Alaska are asking questions.

The EPA says the state troopers told them there were water violations going on, but the state troopers say that's a lie. The senators are calling Bravo Sierra on the EPA claims.

Man, I tell ya folks, this bunch at the EPA right now needs to be neutered.

That's my point of view, what's yours?

No federal law enforcement agency in the United States has been touched by the sequester. In fact, they have more money than ever. Cut them by 20% at least. They need to face their fair share of cuts.

Just more examples of agents not there to protect, but to find reason/excuse to punish. And who are they answerable to if not superiors whose job is to cover their a***s.

Neal... you cannot be 'armed with body armor'. Body armor is passive defense. Now armed with guns or knives or clubs, yes, body armor no.

But yes the EPA and the others overreacted. Just a few inspectors are al the needed unless It was known their would be a good chance of violence.
