TYLER, TX (KETK) - — We've moved from black friday to cyber monday.
May I ask you to cyber-shop locally?
We have a lot of fine merchants here in East Texas with websites.
Please think of them first.
Trust me-I like a deal as much as anyone.
But, these people are our neighbors and they are feeling the
pinch of this economy just like we are.
Think shopping doesn't make a difference??
The main street director in lufkin put a pencil to things which was reported in
last week's lufkin daily news.
Barbara Thompson said for every $100 spent in a national chain store, $43 stays in Lufkin. Every $100 spent in locally owned independent stores shows a return of $68 to the community through taxes, payroll, and other expenditures. Spending online doesn't generate any income for the local economy, she said.
Let me add this-unless that store is local.
But, let me please ask you when you are shopping, think of the home team first.
If it's just a matter of a few bucks higher-is it not worth it to leave that dollar here?
I think it's worth it.
These folks are the people you sit with at church, coach your child's little league team and have a desire, just like you, to make East Texas a better place to live.
When you shop-please give them first consideration during the Christmas season and all year long as well.
That's my point of view, what's yours?
