tyler, tx — Have you had enough from politically correct people who don't want to offend?
Especially, when it come to religious or patriotic symbolism.
Well, here's one for you.
The Clackamas Mall is in the Portland, Oregon area. I used to shop there when I lived in the Pacific Northwest.
They have a little train that runs in the shopping mall. Looks like recently, the manager of the children's train at the mall says he's being forced to remove U.S. flags that he uses to decorate the train ride.
Why? The mall told him the flags are against policy.
Thomas Phelps, the conductor, said he was floored when he got a letter from mall management telling him that the flags he put on the train a few weeks ago were "unapproved visuals."
Phelps, a veteran, said the flags are dedicated to veterans and military, police, firefighters, EMTs - all those people that daily put their lives on the line for us." He said if you're going to call that a Christmas decoration or something, then I'm sorry, I don't want to be around you. You're not in my country.
Phelps said he would understand if it was causing a problem, but he said nobody has complained - not once.
Well, It hit the fan. Word got out. A firestorm erupted. News crews came out. The chicken manager of the mall would not let the cameras inside.
The mall management would not budge. Phelps says fire him.
Then you know what? The storm continued for the mall.
Then, under fire, the mall now releases this statement: "We honor, support and respect what the United States flag represents. The actions and letter that were communicated certainly did not convey that. And for this, we apologize. We can see how many were offended.
Chalk one up for American values.
That's my point of view, what's yours?
