Thoughts about the President's gun proposal

TYLER,TX. (KETK)--The President came out with his 23 executive orders Wednesday and asked Congress to make what he called common sense changes to gun laws.

I saw again, who is the judge of what is common sense.

His idea and mine don't necessarily intertwine.

After all the hubbub about Wednesday and the month that lead up to Wednesday, what has changed.

Nothing.

The President came out with a laundry list of things to do.

The most troubling to me is getting doctors to override HIPPA laws and  getting them involved in the gun debate.

That's just not going to happen.

The Senate and House will be asked the pass the Presidents request.

I don't think that's going to happen either.

there are not enough votes in the House and even in the Senate.

Harry Reid is not may favorite person but he is a gun guy and he says there is no way he's going to spend time on legislation he knows he can't get through there.

I am glad I live in Texas.

A state which trusts me to carry out my Second Amendment rights.

I was on the road Wednesday and listening to talk radio.

I heard the Governor of New York  screaming in a speech 100 times on talk radio about we don't need 10 bullets to kill a deer.

Well, the Second Amendment is not about hunting.

Never has been.

I saw new data Thursday which says most of your murder and gun crimes are committed in high population urban area.

That's exactly the areas with the tightest gun laws.

See, it doesn't make sense.

Once again, the federal government chases the wrong bird.

That's my point of view what's yours?

When the government wants to take your 2nd amendment rights away, that's when you need them most.

Nobody is trying to take anyones 2nd amendment rights away, anyone who wants to own a firearm in the U.S. that is legaly allowed to under the current laws will still be able to long after President Obama has left office. IDIOTS

People...take a good long look at the assault weapon at the top of this page...look long and hard at the power this AR has to kill...think of the 11+/- rounds shot into each little innocent child in Newtown...and try to justify why even one of these weapons of mass distruction needs to be in your personal arsenal...this is a killing machine that should be used only by military personnel...ban and destroy all ARs, ban mega-round clips, restore sanity to this country...or go down by the gun.

According to the Library of Congress to date there have been no, I repeat NO legislation filed by anyone to pick up anyones firearms. Just remember Deaf, opinions are not FACTS and neither are off the cuff comments about any topic by anyone.
‘”With this bill we’re putting in place some common sense reforms,” the president said during signing ceremonies at the White House.’

Don't kid yourself Don. That law goes back before Obama. Sen. Tom Coburn (R) got the amendment inserted into the credit card bill. Obama singed it 'without comment', which is real rare for him.

You want me to give a very recent quite by Obama and Biden on guns? Or the comments by Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Sen. Charles Schumer?

They want them ALL Don, right now. And that is a fact.

OH, and Deaf and Blind, that law DOES NOT go back before Obama, IT WAS NEVER A LAW UNTIL PRESIDENT OBAMA SIGNED IT INTO LAW.
Yes I want you to give us all the QUOTES (not quite ) by President Obama and Vice President Biden where they stated they were coming for everyones guns, all guns, with LINKS please.

Great post Deaf, but who is trying to pick up anyones guns? Did you know that President Obama is the only president that has let licensed gun owners bring firearms into national parks and wildlife refuges as long as they are allowed by state law ?

And keep in mind what the OTHER counties said about arms. Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Ida Amin, Mugbee, etc... and as a infamous one of their number said...

”Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA - ordinary citizens don’t need guns, as their having guns doesn’t serve the State.”
~Heinrich Himmler

And we know how THAT turned out. As did the USSR, CHINA, Cambodia, Zimbabwe, Cuba, etc...

The 2nd Amendment is NOT about duck hunting.

”Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the outcome of the vote.”
~Benjamin Franklin

”This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it or their revolutionary right to dismember it or overthrow it.”
~Abraham Lincoln

”That the people have a Right to mass and to bear arms; that a well regulated militia composed of the Body of the people, trained to arms, is the proper natural and safe defense of a free State…”
~George Mason

”Arms in the hands of citizens may be used at individual discretion in private self defense.”
~John Adams

”The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it.”
~Thomas Jefferson

.”The right of the people to keep and bear…arms shall not be infringed. A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the best and most natural defense of a free country…”
~James Madison

.”The Constitution of most of our states (and of the United States) assert that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed.”
~Thomas Jefferson

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."
--Thomas Jefferson, quoting Cesare Beccaria in On Crimes and Punishment (1764).

In a nation governed by the people themselves, the possession of arms to defend their nation against usurpers within and without was deemed absolutely necessary. This right was protected by the 2nd Amendment. --Thomas Jefferson to John Cartwright, 1824.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
#1. the 2nd amendment does not state what kind of Arms you are allowed to keep.
#2. A well regulated Militia means there will be regulation imposed on the melitia (people) by the governing authority of the Malitia which means the government. The congress & President has the power afforded it by the Constitution to regulate the ARMS.

Regulated in the above statement means to make rugular.Ie Malitia arms be rugular with military arms so that there would be commonality between them. This makes logistics in time of war easier.Congress and the President according to the 2nd amendment shall NOT INFRINGE upon these rights. To make law or regulation against Arms is to violate the 2nd amendment.

Dictionary.com - regulate
1. to control by rule, principle, or method
2. to adjust to some standard or requirement

Laws are rules and our Congress and the executive branch together by authority of the Constitution will write all rules or laws.

Can't find one dictionary anywhere that states the word "Regulated" means "regular". Post a link please or are you just smarter than all the reference dictionaries that have published?

Here's a slightly different tact to consider. Like poverty and racism, they don't want to end hand gun violence. If anything, the aim is to make it worse. Their power comes from champion these causes. Increasing the problem increases their power. They have everything to lose with solutions. Reduce gun ownership, gun violence goes up, hence a reason to demand even more restrictions and votes for those who falsely claim they want to protect us.

This subject is not about guns at all. It is all about a tyrannical government, a power grab. Once again. He is following the Communist Rules for a Revolution and Machiavelli's Divide and Conquer ideas.

The subject is...who the heck are you, katie? You're almost so over the top in your blistering hatred and venom that one could wonder if you post such jack*** comments to bait others into an argument...or if you're for real, it sounds like you would join the troops in a revolt to overthrow the government...being from Texas, one would also wonder if you are at the very least a closet racist or, openly, someone who would vote for anarchy...a treasonable offense. You're on the edge, katie.

Check Tyler's tally of gun robberies/home invasions with guns/drive-by and one-on-one shootings/ domestic shootings, etc. Instead of making global statements, why not bring the shooting investigation to your own backyard, pov? An old dentist killing his wife, idiots trying to rob innocent shop keepers at gun point, drive-by shootings at innocent folks in their homes and driving along Tyler streets, you have posters (deaf smith, charles, etc.) advocating revolt on your station's internet site.
