tyler — Having more government in our lives, is this really good?
There are those who want the hand of mother government in everything. Somehow afraid that if mother is not looking out for your every move, somehow you will get a bad deal.
But, this new research from George Mason University says what many have said all along. American business must comply with a lot of rules. Too many.
There are more than 165,000 pages of federal regulations, almost 20,000 of which were added in the past four years. One of the chief rationales for many regulations is safety, and, as Congress expands regulators' mandates, regulators concentrate on writing highly detailed and specific rules to cover perceived gaps in the law.
For the sake of protecting the health and safety of workers and consumers, the federal government accepts the significant drag regulatory compliance puts on the U.S. economy and the burden it places on all businesses, but especially small ones.
Psychology, economics, and organizational science, however, suggest that too many regulations-particularly highly detailed regulations-may make society less, rather than more, safe.
In "Regulatory Overload: A Behavioral Analysis of Regulatory Compliance," occupational psychologists and economists look at the behavioral effects of regulatory overload on businesses. They find that too many, and too detailed, regulations can reduce compliance, discourage innovation, and fuel uncertainty, ultimately making Americans less safe.
This is hard, cruel wold. Risk is part of it.
Now, it can't be gunfight at the O.K. Corral either.
But, the nanny state we've put ourselves in has done nothing but slow this country down.

Sorry, bigd...you are, without a doubt, the most prolific poster on ol' barton's sites...he lights the kindling and you fan the flame...the only problem with that is that you are the cancer of hate that is going to see the downfall of this country if allowed to rule and reign...and, no matter what you say or how you say it, you will NOT win the argument. If you do not yet have that dreaded disease roaming around in your frame, it won't be too long until it takes over...hate + stress = illness.
Without reguations/regulators, who protects us from tainted food, contaminated water and air, who sets standards for educating our children, who watches out for those who can't stand on their own, etc....left to the states, some partisan politicians who cater to their donors will ignore the need for social/environmental/educational oversight for all state citizens...the rich and powerful have no incentive to be concerned with those who are not rich and do not have power over their circumstances.
The regulators' jobs are to punish, not protect. And who's job is to protect us from these people who have nearly limitless unchecked power?

The alphabet of federal agencies need to be ELIMINATED!! No wonder Perry couldn't remember one out of all those that create misery in our lives. The 1st one that needs to be dumped is the EPA; it has become the radical's power-trip wet dream and is destroying the country!

Yesterday, Huckabee reported that the regs put into effect the last 3 yrs have added $17,500 to what employers pay to put people to work. With that why would businesses hire when they can go overseas for services? And it's the black community that suffers most. So much for Obama caring for the poor and minorities and Wall St. profits by going overseas. So who's the party of the rich?

Oh, I have no doubt the numbers are most likely exadurated. Nor is this the only administration where this is true, and may not even be the worst. Point being, these free to do as they please bureacracies are costing American jobs under the guise of protecting us.
Did you see Mike Wallace on Obama's "jobs speech". He was absolutely giddy over it and obviously put out with having to allow Boehner to speek after. Talk about bias, and Fox gets grief for it? They are the least bias.
The spark that robbed the Capitalist economic engine occurred when when backdoor Barney Frank stuck his “Fannie Mae I” potato up our economic tailpipe killing the very air that fed the economic engine. By forcing the banks to lend to Derelict Liberal minded Democrats of entitlement who demanded that they were just as entitled to own a home, even though they had not the integrity or will power to make the payments. The mortgages of course were to be socialistically backed by the U.S. Taxpayer
When the artificially government created financial housing bubble burst, costing the banks to go bankrupt because they were forced to lend to unworthy people, the government was forced to correct their mistake,, do the right thing and save the banks. The government of course is you and me who again get to pay the price of one more failed Socialist experiment of human outcomes that goes directly against the law of nature and human nature.
Just one more example of socialist "Tricke up Poverty" when human energy, ambition and quest to succeed is stifled by the "Feel Good" socialist government dispensers of human mercy with no thought to the consequences their failed policies have on human justice. Separation of Church and State only works when the failed government attempts at mercy are separated from the state and put back into the sphere of the Church who knows how to properly dispense it to the worthy.
Regulations and enforcement equate to government jobs and revenue and does impede business somewhat, but the spark that has robbed the economic engine of the United States is the creation of a secret banking monopoly by the Federal Reserve. Hidden behind TARP it is now learned that 2 trillion additional dollars were funneled to undisclosed banks by the Fed. Res. while at the same time those banks not receiving the secret funds were closed by FDIC. No money flow = no investing and no business.
In case you haven't noticed, the banks have paid back most of the TARP money advanced,,,unlike your Auto Unions and Obama who stole the 85 year old grandmothers IRA GM invested stock which is now worthless to save the Union Socialists collective retirements who were given majority stock ownership in the new company while grandma's stock remains worthless.What the fools don't realize that the greedy Unions will again bankrupt the new GM since their greed is what bankrupted GM in the first place.
WHO has or will pay back the $878 billion is stimulus money that we gave Obama and now has been wasted and consumed instead of invested in infrastucture.,,,,NOBODY,,it is forever gone, tobe paid for with interest by our grandchildren to the Red Chinese who lent us the money and now own us and our children. Are you not JUST ENJOYING your Socialism of financial enslavement to foreign masters by an illegitimate President with illigitimate foreign ideas, born illigitimately by a foreign father?
