Too many rules

This lunacy about guns has got to stop.

This story is from

A Detroit man who was two years away from retirement was fired after he turned a gun that he found on the job over to police.

The man and his crew were just doing their job when one of them drove a mower over an abandoned snub nose revolver. Miraculously, the gun never went off and the man who found the gun was able to secure it before anybody got hurt. He decided to store the gun in his van and later drove the gun to a police station to turn it in. As it turns out, the gun was stolen.

What did he get for being a good Samaritan? The police commended him for doing the right thing, and then he got a pink slip. Wayne County, the man's employer, has a policy against employees possessing a firearm while on the job. His foreman was also suspended for 30 days.

His union has filed a grievance, and he intends to fight for his job. The county should hire him back and with a raise. This guy sounds like a model employee.

That's my point of view, what's yours?

snydergal, I'm tired of the same reaction to the idea of less government. Nowhere in the story does Neal call for us to "stop medical assistance for the ill." Nor does he call for the elimination of drivers license requirements. You trash anyone who advocates less regulation, falsely accusing them of advocating anarchy. This is mere demagoguery, and free thinkers can see right through it.

One more point from your rant - do you think we shouldn't be masters of our own domain? That's SAD.

No good deed goes unpunished.

Guess we need to stop medical assistance for the ill, allow the kids of 99%er's to only go through the 6th grade (after all, education is only for the kids of 1%er's, and the cost of public education is too expensive), everyone should be allowed to carry a pistol on their hip and lots of ammo in their pockets, no more driver's licenses, voter's registrations, marriage more Medicare/Social Secirity...everyone on his/her community, everyone master of their own realm...SAD.

Simply shows that the man has more common sense than his employer. That gun lying outside could have been picked up by anyone, even a child. Although some good deeds get punished, do them anyway!
