This has been in the news the past few days: at a high school near Fort Collins, Colorado, the kids wanted to have a celebration of America.

Ox News reports that the student council wanted to designate a day during Spirit Week to celebrate the red, white, and blue. The young people called it "Merica Monday," but the school turned down their request.

"They said they didn't want to offend anyone from other countries or immigrants," said a 16-year-old member of the student council. "They just really did not want to make anyone feel uncomfortable."

Then, the local sheriff and a hose of parents who are fed up with political correctness raised a holy caion about all this and it hit the news wires. Then the school backed down and the next Monday would be America Day.

The principal said this, "We apologize for our recent decision regarding 'My Country Monday' and that it was seen as not patriotic. This could not be further from the truth. The original intent of 'Spread the Love' week at Fort Collins High School was to unify the student body. When students first proposed 'Merica Monday,' we felt that it was against this unifying theme and disrespectful to our country. Merica is a slang term that is often used in a negative stereotypical way to describe life in the United States."

Those in the know said it didn't happen that way.

The staff was just crawfishing after being called on their dumb action.

I never thought in my lifetime we'd be so happy to hand over everything that makes this country great.

Well that's my point of view what's yours?

Plus, if you are new to the area, let me enlighten you: East Texas is home to MANY closet racists...cowards that sit behind closed doors, in church pews spreading "the word" of their good book while twisting the message around to suit their own hypocritical agendas. Where was all of this hate for George W. when he put this country on the brink of collapse? Republicans and "tea baggers" hate the FACTS, & hinge on every word "FAUX NEWS" has to say. It's comedy at it's finest & must see tv! Idiots!

The fines being levied on these corporations are laughable. Often crooked banks and investment firms have gotten off paying pennies on the dollar. Can you imagine robbing a bank for a million dollars getting caught and agreeing to pay a $100,000 fine and keeping the other $900,000. Well US bankers have done it. And they're still doing it while congress has hearings about it.

When I was in public school in Dallas we said the pledge of allegiance and the lords prayer at the start of every day. Everyone ignores the real problem in the US. A lack of integrity in business and political leaders from the top down. There's also a moral decline in our society as a whole.
People are in denial. There is no such thing as an atheist or agnostic. Americans worship sex, money, power, fame, drugs, alcohol and a pantheon of other gods. They just need to find a real God.

How's that line from the movie go, "the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world". Seems far more often than not that the "offended" group is not the ones complaining, nor do they see anything wrong. For whatever reason, schools seem far too eager to cave to these politically correct pressures.

Laughable this media hack who appears to pull his head out and say; "What happened to our land", while ignoring the role media played in the transformation. Gettin' Jiggy wid Merica comes from the New World Order playbook used on S. Africa when Central Bank Cronies looted the gold of that nation. Nations with military might are not attacked by planes and tanks, they are conquered through subversion while the citizenry is stripped of their wealth. Neal is more than a day late and a dollar short.

I sometimes wonder if Rome fell cause people just stopped carring for their country.

Actually, it's kinda scary when you see the parallel between why Rome fall and where America is headed today. Drunk on there material wealth, arrogant toward others, a military full of family men. I'd include immorality like homosexuality, pedophilia, blood lust (in our case it's abortion), but they've had that since their foundation.

A. Rome failed much like Merica. There were undoubtedly affluent areas within the Empire comparable to Dallas that attracted the hoards from the ghetto's like Cleveland. As the ghetto "know it all" mentality seeped into the affluent Roman society, it was just a matter of time. Sound familiar to you, Paul?

Crawfish : to "go back" on a promise. When you packed the U-Haul and moved to Texas you should have acknowledged that the failed liberal policies adopted by your Yankee home state caused you to abandon your home. Now, in a more prosperous conservative environment, you bring your failed politics and begin to sh*t in our nest. Here's a couple of other sayings we have; "Get with the program or get out" or, "This ain't our first rodeo", meaning we Texans have dealt with your kind before.

My friend, not everyone in the great state of Texas or East Texas, are bible thumping hypocrites, "Obama's coming to take our guns", right wing nut jobs. People like Neil Barton and many on here will force their right wing agenda down our throats if we allow it. I have never seen a more blatant lack of disrespect for a president in my 49 years on this earth. Who they should be blaming is John Boehner & his merry band of idiots for holding america hostage. George W. & Reagan are their heros, LMAO

And your president comes from Kenya, what's your point Carpetbagger? Oh, and by the way, in Texas we say; "burr under your saddle".

MY president was born in Hawaii, maybe you've heard that's one of the 50 states, Shelia. You would think school teachers would be more educated. Also, since it's rather difficult for you to get sarcasm, the profile pic & name is "against" tea baggers & right wing nut jobs. Furthermore, that's what rednecks may say in Texas, not me..lived here my whole life. I see, as do many others, that you tap dance around racism...jews, ethnic groups, etc. What, a black man give you a "burr under your saddle"
