tyler — I can remember when the Bush administration put in the Patriot Act.
Howls of discontent from mainly the media.
There was no way the government was supposed to spy on us no matter if it may help prevent another terrorist attack.
Have you heard the latest?
Now, the Obama White House will allow the Department of Homeland Security to keep a tab on what journalists are saying about them.
They mainly are keeping an eye on what they said on social media.
Fox Nation reports Under the National Operations Center (NOC)'s Media Monitoring Initiative that came out of DHS headquarters in November, Washington has the written permission to retain data on users of social media and online networking platforms.
Specifically, the DHS announced the NCO and its Office of Operations Coordination and Planning (OPS) can collect personal information from news anchors, journalists, reporters or anyone who may use "traditional and/or social media in real time to keep their audience situationally aware and informed."
This is funny or doesn't matter to you.

The only good thing about this is it's a government operation, and we know how that is usually run.

talk about dumping tax dollars on wall street, every candidate for president in the republican party has stated that they want to dump our social security in the stock market in a 401 K type plan. The reason we have social security in the first place is because of the stock market crash of 29 which was caused by the policies of the Republican Party of the 20's and the same old trickle down economic theory that they have today.
The nature of government is tyranny. The right defends Bush, the left Obama. Both say the other is wrong and their's is right. Neither will admit both are doing the same thing. That includes violating civil rights as well as dumping taxpayer money onto Wall Street.

Well Rollo, guess you are not smart enough to do your research. The DHS is following the 2007 laws of George W. Bush in this matter.

I agree but it is mostly policies brought about by the Republican controled congress and signed into law first by George W. Bush that has taken most of the liberties away that you are talking about and the Democrats have continued them. It is the Republicans who used FEAR to gain the support of the citizens to bring about these violations of our civil liberties. These are the FACTS. So KEEP SUPPORTING THOSE REPUBLICAN POLICIES
Just another step in obama and the democRATS agenda to control the population. If he isn't stopped this November, we will have our version of history's kill-off of all dissidents. So when you think about voting; it's not just some formality; your life may well depend upon it!!
