Neal Barton's POV

What, me worry?

I am not a conspiracy person at all. I try to stay away from the black helicopter stuff because simply, I never believe it.

Reading about it again in Forbes magazine peaked my interest again this week.

One thing which has really had me concerned is the 1.6 billion bullets the Department of Homeland Security reportedly bought.

Some of those bullets said to be hollow-points. Even the military doesn't use hollow points.

Why does Homeland Security need them? I've heard urban combat. Where?

I have gone round and round-- no pun intended-- with those who tell me the DHS and other feds need to train with hollow points because that's what they will use in an emergency situation.

I still ask why?

Hollow points are expensive and it's not going to be any different at all practicing with ball ammo.

Also reported elsewhere, at the height of the Iraq War, the Army was expending less than 6 million rounds a month. Therefore, 1.6 billion rounds would be enough to sustain a hot war for 20+ years.

Now if you just Google it, some reports say the Department of Homeland Security is buying 2700 tanks, said to be for urban warfare.

What urban warfare? We're told they were war vehicles which were spruced up to fight here.

Why? 2700?

Maybe 5 or 6, but 2700?

I could see if they were dispersing them on the border, but they're not.

Let me ask you. When was the last time Homeland Security was in a gun fight?

I'm not trying to be outrageous. I really want to know.

Do you know what's going on here?

I don't, but I am not liking what I see.

I'm with you Neal. Something smells bad.

Neal, are these the same bullets that Winston Churchill spoke about in World War II? I believe they were called Dum dum bullets? I would imagine they are getting ready for an uprising in the U.S. and we will be the targets. Obama is dangerous and I believe he will either declare martial law or start a war. Whatever it takes for him to retain power. I pray I am wrong, but I don't think so. I tremble for my country.

Seriously, Katie?

The person I feared would start a war against civilians was Dick Cheney.

If I have to suspect anything of the DHS, it's the ammo buy up to dry up the supply and jack up prices for civilians. That might be the reason for so much ammo being purchased (and ironically with our own tax money.)

First, it is my understanding they are getting the OPTION to buy '1.6 billion bullets' over a term of years, not 1.6 billion rounds of ammo right this minute. What I don't know is the exact contact specifications.

As for HP ammo, we have had FBI agents here shoot our IDPA matches and they did use Winchester T series HP 40 S&W ammo that the FBI issues (and us civilians wished we had the money to do that to!)

Really it's the armored fighting vehicles (not true tanks) that worries me.
