What to do....

I first got a heads up about the Marines and Taliban picture last week
from a friend of mine who runs a bureau for one of the news networks.

He said the networks were scrambling to know more.

I opened the link and i saw what people all across the world
would be seeing 24-hours later....United States Marines urinating
on the bodies of taliban soldiers.

Some of you may find this strange, but my first emotion what shock and outrage.

How horrible.

And then i realized that these images would be used for propaganda across the world
for those who hate the United States...and it is.

But...lets step back.

First of all....this is the United States.

We need to be better than this.

We do.

Let me also add this.

I have never served a day in the United States Military.

I never been shot at and never fired a shot at another human being in anger.

What to do?

Of course the national media is going ballistic.

But, they, like me...went to college and straight into the workforce and never went through what
these marines have.

The spotlight now is on the three star marine general who must come jump with
punishment...and or discipline for the marines who were identified.

I hope the young men in question are spoken to.

I hope they are informed about how stupid their act was and did they not know if this got
shown it would have tremendous implications.

I don't think they should be thrown out of the corp.

I don't think they should go to prison.

If you study war....enemies have been doing horrible things to each other for thousands of years.

Its not right...but...it happens.
And with this cell phone-you tube world we live in....one must know the cost of acting immaturely and the ramifications that can ensue.

Thats my point of view what's yours?

Inappropriate yes, but worthy of the media attention and public outrage NO.
My first thought was the guy that took this video better hide well, What happens on a battle field is not pretty,it forever changes the lives of each soldier and their family. There is no "acceptable" outlet for these men/women to express their outrage at the horror's they must endure. The Taliban certainly has and will continue to do much worse to our men and women.Sometimes one must lower themselves to the enemies level.

Anyone who has seen the battlefield knows the situation where you must kill your enemy, and you don't do that by loving them. The "hearts and mind" hands-off approach to warfare is bull corn and is needlessly killing our men. After a battle you vent in all types of ways and yes this kind of stuff does happen. I understand a little public scorn for the world's benefit, but if Hillary and Obama take it too far then I'll demand their kids serve front-line duty or we'll all stay safe at home

Ron Paul served and we veterans are supporting him.
