EAST TEXAS — Many East Texans are without power right now due to high winds and downed limbs.
SWEPCO officials tell KETK that the outages in the Kilgore area and just north of Kilgore were caused by a tree that fell on a transformer near the Sabine River. Up to 4200 people were without power at one point, but SWEPCO says most of their customers have had their power restored.

Also, officials with the City of Kilgore tell KETK, police are at the intersection of Hwy 42 and Hwy. 31, and the intersection of Hwy. 259 and Hwy. 31 to direct traffic because of outages. They also report outages at Kilgore High School.
KETK Chief Meterologist Scott Chesner says that there are also reports of gusty winds blowing down trees and powerlines in Shelby County.
TxDot has been working all day to clear downed trees from roadways.
