President of Houston Texans visits Nacogdoches, praises SFA
Nacogdoches — Jamey Rootes helped bring the Stephen F. Austin rivalry with Sam Houston to Houston.
The president of the Texans helped bring the game to Reliant Stadium three years ago.
It will keep coming back to H-Town.
"We want to grow the game of football at all levels," Rootes said. "We can't think of a better way than taking the longest running collegiate rivalry in Texas and bringing it to Houston."
"We've had record crowds every year," Rootes continued. "It's become a homecoming of sorts for both schools, an opportunity for people to reconnect and engage with their universities. We're glad that we can be a part of it."
