A prisoner receiving medical care at LSU Health Science Center escaped custody Wednesday afternoon.

Just after 3:00pm, Police officials with the Health Science Center notified the Shreveport Police Department that a prisoner who had been receiving medical care at the hospital escaped.

The prisoner, 39 year old Craedel Cook, was reportedly being guarded by a private security company at the time.

Officials believe that cook ran away from the hospital after somehow managing to distract the guard.

He had been charged on October 13th for possession of a schedule II narcotic, resisting an officer, and obstruction of justice.

He's described as a black man, about 5'9'' tall, weighing approximately 200 lbs. He has a salt and pepper hair and beard. He was last seen wearing a hospital gown and jean shorts.

Authorities believe Cook to be dangerous.

Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is urged to call Shreveport Police at (318) 673-BLUE or 911.
