Pro bullfighter in serious condition after bull strikes him in Lufkin event

A bullfighter was taken by medical helicopter to a Tyler hospital Saturday night with a critical injury he suffered during the David Wisener Memorial Bull Riding event at the George H. Henderson Jr. Exposition Center in Lufkin.

Cody Hollums, 28, a five-year veteran bullfighter with the CBR professional rodeo circuit, remained in serious condition Sunday night. On Saturday night, he suffered a blow to the side of the head from one of the bulls, knocking him unconscious. Chuck Griffith, coordinator of the event, said that as of Sunday afternoon, Hollums remained in a coma in a Tyler hospital.
