Residents of Tyler and surrounding areas in House District 6 will gather in Austin on Monday, July 8 as part of a statewide effort to support House Bill 2, the omnibus pro-life bill filed in the current special session.

The group will gather at the state capitol prior to a 7 p.m. pro-life rally on the south steps of the capitol. The rally will feature former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, along with several pro-life leaders from around Texas. More information about the rally can be found at www.texasvalues.org.

Schaefer is excited about local residents supporting HB 2 in Austin.

“I support the right to life and I support safety for women,” Schaefer said. “This bill is important in addressing both of those concerns. I am pleased that many people from my district will join me in Austin in support of these bills.”

Local residents are invited to meet beforehand in the office of State Rep. Matt Schaefer, Capitol Extension office E1.406. Signs in support of life will be available to use at the rally, and belongings may also be stored in Schaefer’s office during the rally.

Pro-life attendees are encouraged to wear blue, and to bring snacks and water. People who are able to carpool are encouraged to do so, as parking is expected to be crowded. Parking is available in the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage at 1201 San Jacinto located between Trinity and San Jacinto Streets at 12th and 13th streets. Metered parking is available throughout the capitol complex. Other parking garages are located at the Doubletree Hotel, 303 W. 15th Street, west of the Capitol; the Bob Bullock State History Museum, 1800 N. Congress, north of the Capitol; and the Wells Fargo parking garage, 400 W 15th St., west of the Capitol.

Tonks, whether you are a man or a woman, WOW...you are awesome!! You've stepped up to the plate, posted eloquently and forcefully, and I applaud your stance for women and against the power struggle men are having to control every single aspect of a woman's personal health decisions...so glad to have another voice of reason to try to drown out the insanity coming from Austin, the state, and those who would take this country back to the stone age.

I stand with Wendy.

If he's supportive of heath for women, I guess he will be in favor of mandating that all women give birth in hospitals. Also, he should support requirements that all dental work be performed in hospitals. Further, he should support requirements that all vasectomies be performed in a hospital.

Are Forced Birth supporters supposed to wear the burka?
