'Promposals': Students think up creative ways to woo prom dates
Longview, TX — Hallsville High School junior Ashley Ripple got a sweet surprise in February.
Fellow HHS junior Jacob Walker had been plotting for two weeks over the perfect way to ask Ripple to the Hallsville prom.
In the basement of her parent’s house, with her parent’s permission, he presented her with a jar full of lavender and white custom M&M candies with their picture, the date of the prom and the inscription, “Will you go with me?” on them.
“Promposals,” elaborate ways of asking a date to the prom, are sweeping the nation with increasing frequency and creativity.
One Hallsville business marquee was emblazoned with “Will you go to prom with me” last week, but the sign was taken down before the News-Journal could discover whose promposal it was.
