Nacogdoches, TX — Nacogdoches County spent thousands of dollars responding to Tar Sands Blockade protesters on Halloween in Sacul, and Sheriff Thomas Kerss said he expects costs to taxpayers to increase as work progresses here on TransCanada’s Keystone XL Pipeline.
“We estimate our response, just on that one day, to cost probably around $4,000,” he said. “I know it cost Nacogdoches County a little over $1,100 just for that lift. Apparently, the end of those costs is not in sight.”
