Protesters Gather Outside Louie Gohmert's Office
TYLER - A group protesting President Barack Obama's health care plan held a rally today in Tyler.
The Tyler tea party rally took place right outside of U.S. Representative Louie Gohmert's Tyler office.
Speakers addressed several issues including national health care, empowering the people, Constitutional values and the role of youth in shaping the future.
Representative Gohmert was not present at the protest, instead a member of Mr. Gohmert's staff read a statement.
Several hundred people were in attendance, and all of them were fired up.
"I have been pushed to the limit by the federal government misusing power," Charles Turner says.
The Tyler Tea Party rally was just one of several protests held today.
Groups across the nation gathered today at the offices of their respective representatives to protest.
In no way did the location of this particular protest indicate a dislike of Louie Gohmert or his policies. This was simply part of a national campaign to make your congressman aware of your voice.

2 weeks agoIt's great that they're protesting; however, Mr. Gohmert doesn't agree with the healtcare bill, either. Please go camp outside a Democrat's office & let them know how we all feel - we're right there with you in spirit!

2 weeks agoI am grateful the news station turned out for this important event, although it is a little disappointing NBC 56 did not cover more about the fact that teenagers played such a large part in this protest. 2 of the 6 speakers were under the age of 18 and there was a large contingent of young people attending as well as helping with the event. In fact, there were so many there that either the editor or the camera crew must have taken great pains to avoid them in their shots. The TEA Party movement is composed of citizens of all different ages and backgrounds, including young, conservative, enthusiastic teenagers. This aspect of the story should have received greater attention. Channel 19 told the full story.

4 months agoWas not able to attend rally, but agree with Mr. Turner. This group of Democrats are so brazen as to tell us what their intentions are....We must wake up, take note and take action before its too late!!!!!
