Provigil: The stay awake drug

Tyler, Texas — Provigil is a wake promoting agent.
People who suffer from sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and shift work disorder have found that this drug improves their productivity,
Pharmacy Manager for Good's Medicine Chest, David Davis told KETK, "It's a fairly popular drug, we fill anywhere from 7 to 10 to 12 prescriptions a week for the medication."
However many users are taking Provigil simply to enhance their everyday life. Experts have even compared it to adderall.
Davis said, "The main difference in Provigil and Adderall is Adderall is predominantly used in children and adolescents, Provigil is more an adult oriented drug"
Some pharmacies here in East Texas have seen a recent demand for this drug. We spoke with one sleep doctor who told KETK why Provigil is so popular right now,
R.V. Ghuge, MD told KETK, "I have a lot of patients who have narcolepsy and sleep apnea related sleepiness and many of them need treatment with these medications so obviously most of them do very well."\
However, like all drugs there are always the side effects.
Ghuge told KETK, "I've have some patients that have developed palpitations, chest pains or headaches, nausea or vomiting."
Provigil has not been around as long as most drugs and Dr. Ghuge told KETK that there hasn't been enough studies telling people what kind of effects this drug could have in the long-run.
