Pullin' for Kids

East Texans spending a Saturday morning at the shooting range is a pretty common sight.

But this Saturday some of those East Texans used their skills with a shotgun to raise money for local foster children.

Smith county has seen a boom in the number of foster kids in the area, and with budget cuts across the board, it makes fundraisers such as this, even more important.

This is the second year Tyler-Smith County Child Welfare has held this fundraiser at Rose City Flying Clays.

The organization provides school supplies, medication and eye glasses for area children.

They also work to give these kids a little since of normalcy, by giving them gifts on Christmas and their birthdays.

That is why the money raised today is so important, because it's going to help those who have so little, at no fault of their own.

Last year this fundraiser brought in around three-thousand dollars for foster kids.
