The heavy rain has created hazardous road conditions for drivers as it moves through East Texas.

A culvert collapsed on Smith County Road 474 near Lindale just after noon on Friday.

Lindale Junior High School is located at the intersection of CR 474 (Prairie Creek Road) and CR 463 (Wood Springs Road) in Lindale. A portion of CR 474 has collapsed and is heavily flooded. Parents/Guardians will not be able to access LJHS from this road. Parents/Guardians need to use the entrance on CR 463 (Wood Spring Road) for student pick-up.

Authorities have confirmed to Lindale officials, CR 474 will be closed for at least the next week and parents will need to continue to use CR 463 until further notice.

The flooding is having effects all over East Texas.

Tyler Fire officials tell KETK that they have helped several stranded drivers in high water, and have received reports of numerous reports of flooded homes.

Authorities urge drivers to use caution when driving on Friday. You are advised to turn around and find alternate routes if you encounter standing water in the roadway.
