Smith County-- Some are excited about escaping from the heat, and the rain is doing much more than simply refreshing us.
Ranchers like Ronnie Glaspie say this week's rain is a big help. He usually cuts hay three times a year, but he missed the first cutting because it was so dry. Before the rain, he was starting to get worried.
Now, it seems as though the weather is cooperating.
Rainfalls like the we had this week are good for nurseries as well. Employee Josh Betts says the plants have been drying out because of the heat, but the rain is quenching their thirst.
After the dry spring we had, the rain is much needed. a sigh of relief is spreading into the community.
