sanger, tx — Country singer Randy Travis was arrested Monday morning in Sanger on a charge of suspicion of public intoxication, according to NBC DFW.
Travis, who has a ranch in nearby Tioga, was spotted in front of the First Baptist Church in Sanger with an open bottle of wine, police said.
“A report of a suspicious vehicle was called in to Sanger police. Police go to investigate and find him smelling like alcohol and [he] had an open bottle of wine,” said Tom Reedy, with the Denton County Sheriff's Department.
Reedy said Sanger officers took him to Denton where he was booked into the county jail at 1:30 a.m. Monday and released a few hours later.
“They take you to jail for at least four hours, time to sober up,” Reedy explained about the Class C misdemeanor, for which Travis was cited.

With such an illustrious career and a prominent place in C&W and Christian music, it is sad that this had to take place...but maybe this will serve as a wake-up call for Randy...whatever has driven him to drinking should be addressed in private, and he should find a way to straighten out his life. Wishing him the best...one of the best voices ever should not be silenced this way.
What a waste of money. Who cares if he had a bottle of wine?!
