Record low temperatures threaten outdoor plants
Longview — The southern edges of an Arctic front that dumped up to 18 inches of snow across parts of the Midwest blew across Northeast Texas on Sunday and into Monday, delivering what Texas farmers know as the Easter Cold Spell.
It was a record-setter.
The low temperature of 29 degrees in Longview just after sunrise on Monday broke the previous record low temperature of 30 degrees set in 2006, according to the National Weather Service.
