Red Cross needs local volunteers; offering "disaster training" classes
EAST TEXAS — The American Red Cross-North Texas Region needs volunteers at the Longview and Tyler Chapters. Since the restructuring of the North Texas Region, one of our main focuses is capacity building. We need to be prepared with trained personnel for whatever disaster comes our way. Whether it is single family house fires, tornadoes, flooding or other natural disasters, the only way the Red Cross can effectively respond is with volunteers that are trained and ready to help when needed.
“We are very excited about bringing more Red Cross disaster training classes to East Texas”, states Linda Edwards, Volunteer Specialist for the East Texas area. “Having classes held at the Tyler and Longview chapter’s means it will be more convenient for dedicated Red Cross volunteers and prospective volunteers to attend classes. Having more volunteers trained will better equip the local Red Cross to provide the multitude of services that our residents have come to expect from us in times of a disaster” continues Mrs. Edwards.
