An East Texas representative issued a scathing response to President Obama's Tuesday press conference, where he announced more than 7 million Americans have signed up for The Affordable Care Act.

Representative Louie Gohmert (TX-01) released the following statement:

“Today, President Obama spoke on the grand achievement of Obamacare. Praising his plan and calling it a ‘big step forward,’ he claimed that 7 million Americans have enrolled since its launch; however, it appears there are some massive problems with this administration’s numbers.

To put it in perspective, 7 million is about the size of the population of the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas. And of these millions, only an estimated one-third of exchange sign-ups were from the previously reported 30 million people who were uninsured according to the reports. The administration is also choosing to leave Americans in the dark on the actual number of people who have paid their premiums. It is also estimated that Obamacare caused 6 million or so to LOSE their insurance. So a net 1 million out of 300 million does not seem particularly helpful.

Healthcare should not be about pushing a government agenda or spending millions of healthcare dollars on registering people to vote as Democrats. It should be about preserving precious lives and providing Americans with the best options available. Obamcare [sic] is truly the ultimate April Fool’s Day joke, and if not halted, it will continue to do even more damage to this country.”

Congressman Louie Gohmert is the Vice Chair of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security. Prior to being elected to serve in Congress, Louie was elected to three terms as District Judge in Smith County, Texas and also served as Chief Justice of Texas'12th Court of Appeals.

Thank you, Town (you are NOT an idiot!) and Don.

Tell gomer the sky is blue. he'll fight to the death to tell you otherwise...can guarantee the success of the Affordable Healthcare Act is giving all the liars/hate- & fear-mongerers on the right/fat-mouthed politicians, ulcers...any success for this administration, and especially President Obama, gives the racist/ultra-conservative/fundamentalists such heartburn...imagine...calling a successful ins. program that met it's goal a joke...if only there was someone to run against gomer!! CHANGE NOW!

When Louie represented District 1 it was a different time for him in DC . He was stripped of all committee's, harassed by media even to the point of being called to the carpet over parking violations. It was assured that AIPAC would run another candidate to challenge his seat in Congress then, "zing", a change occurred. Louie became a "push-over" no longer standing on principles held by his constituents with words of fire. Now, he's a regular on Hanity, and only tongue-lashes the Socialist.

Latest news shows only 1.4th of those who signed up don't get subsidies.

That means there is not enough paying people to pay for those who don't pay.

And that ain't no April Fools joke!

Hope for change in 2014. Give the Democrats a taste of the unemployment line.

Louie is a political hack who is well connected with gov't jobs his entire career.
He'll get lots of gov't retirement $$ from the legislative & judicial.
None of which he put any of his own $$ towards.
His math sux.
All 6 M he claims lost insurance not 1 got on another BETTER plan since those eliminated were substandard?
He's proud TX has the greatest number of uninsured, low education standards & high poverty level.
He had a Tyler fundraiser & hired a DALLAS caterer
Nothing's too good for Louie

Louie is the ultimate April Fool's Day joke of the century
