Law enforcement officials recovered a gun from Lake Tawakoni allegedly used to kill Kaufman County District Attiorney Mike Hasse.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the Ruger pistol was found in the body water by the Department of Public Safety on March 5. Lake Tawakoni is located north of Wills Point in Hunt County. The gun linked to the deaths of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia, has not been located.

Hasse, 58, was gunned down at the Kaufman County courthouse on Thursday, January 31, 2013. The McLelland's were found dead in their home on Saturday, March 30, 2013. The pair was also killed by gunfire.

At one point, Governor Perry doubled a reward leading to the arrest of their killers to $200,000.

On April 18, the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office announced charges of capital murder against the Williams. Eric Williams was already in official custody for making terroristic threats at the time. His wife confessed to the acts the previous day.

The trial will take place in Rockwall County and is set for October 20, 2014. Jury selection took place last Friday.
