Restored Nacogdoches depot opens
Nacogdoches, TX — Nacogdoches' famed train depot, once a way station for WWI and WWII soldiers headed for Europe or the Pacific, has once again opened its doors.
The depot, at the corner of West Main Street and Old Tyler Road, has been nearly restored to its original condition. Thanks to the City of Nacogdoches and the Center for Regional Heritage Research at Stephen F. Austin State University, residents will now have access to the landmark.
The depot will be home to historical displays and public events, said Mark Barringer, associate dean of the College of Liberal and Applied Arts at SFA.
