Restrictions on fireworks use, sale vary around county

Fireworks were a hot-button issue last year.

As the county suffered the worst drought conditions in 100 years, use of fireworks was banned in unincorporated areas and within most city limits.

This year, revelers may enjoy fireworks, albeit with some restrictions.

Cass County Commissioners recently adopted an order prohibiting fireworks in unincorporated areas of the county.

Commissioners determined conditions on certain uncultivated acreage in the county remain extremely hazardous for danger of fire due to dry vegetation.

In addition, the order also prohibits the sale of fireworks in all unincorporated areas of the county until further notice.
