Construction of a long-delayed senior living center along Hollybrook Drive could get started after the Longview City Council signed off Thursday on municipal bond financing for the project.

The $20 million, 200-unit Parkview on Hollybrook development has been planned since 2008.

Though the city would have no liability or responsibility for repaying the financing, McKinney-based Zerga Development Co. needed Longview’s approval as a step toward receiving as much as $40 million through the Red River Health Facilities Development Corp. of Windthorst. State law requires such approval when funds from one municipality are being used in another.

On about 20 acres on the north side of Hollybrook between Longview Regional Medical Center and St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the project would consist of a senior independent living facility with 137 units and an assisted living/memory care facility with another 63 units.
