Revenue at splash pad concession stand tops $6,000 in first month
Longview — The newest city-operated concession stand sold enough drinks and snacks to cover its operating costs in its first month while earning thousands more than Longview’s other two stands.
The Jack M. Mann Splash Pad concession stand brought in $6,067 its first month in service from June 21 to July 20.
“It is covering our costs,” said Leah Anderson, recreation program coordinator and concessions supervisor for the Longview Parks and Recreation Department. “The service we are providing is more of a service for the public. We are not looking to make a huge gain, a major profit for the city.”
But it’s far from covering the cost of construction. The concession stand was built earlier this year at a cost of $101,982 after the City Council decided to expand the splash pad. A pavilion also has been added.
