The Texas Trails Network honored the city of Tyler's Parks and Recreation Department with the "Great Texas Two Step Award".This award was presented for the development of the "Lindsey Park Mountain Bike Trail'.

KETK spoke with Stephanie Rollings from Tyler's Parks and Recreation, who said, "It's all about making a quality of life better here in Tyler you know at the least cost to the taxpayers". The 10 mile trail was completed in January and constructed entirely by volunteers. Rollings said, "We worked with multiple partners in that project. The Tyler Bike Club, the County Court at Law, the county had a lot to do with it. They provided a lot labor, and there were very minimal dollars spent". In fact thousands of dollars were saved from these people donating their time.

With the addition of this trail, Tyler is one of only a few cities in the country offering four different trail riding experiences. Rollings said, "We have a trail at Faulkner, then the city also own the trail at Lindsey, and then we also have the state park and the UT Tyler who has a mountain bike trail". For those who bike, walk, or run, Tyler Park's has 33 miles of trails, and any milestone accomplishments can be registered with Tyler Parks and Recreation.
