Tyler, Texas — Officials are looking for chili judges in next month's Rose City Chili Cookoff at Gander Mountain in Tyler.

The cookoff will take place March 3, 2012 at Gander Mountain located on Hwy 69 South near the Loop 49 Toll Road.

Beans will be turned in at 12 noon and should only have 1 round of judging. There are no rules for beans.

Junior Chili, ages 17 and under, will be turned in at 1:00 and will be only one round of judging. Juniors are judged by the basic CASI criteria and must adhere to CASI cooking rules.

CASI chili turn-in is at 2:00 and there should be several rounds involving between 50-60 judges.

CASI chili is judged on 5 following crtiteria: Aroma, Red Color, Consistency ( a good thick gravy with meat only), Taste and aftertaste.

Judges will also be signing up at the event until all seats are taken.

This cookoff benefits the Shriners Children's Hospital - Galveston Burn Center.
