CNN — Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida linked himself with Mitt Romney in a Sunday op-ed in the Orlando Sentinel, taking sharp aim at the controversial health care law recently upheld by the Supreme Court.

The junior senator, the only person Romney has confirmed he is vetting as a potential running mate, wrote about Romney's visit to Florida in 2010 when the former Massachusetts governor campaigned on Rubio's behalf.

Rubio said he and Romney visited a restaurant owner, Ben Pumo, who expressed fears about the health care legislation.

"With the recent decision on Obamacare, we were reminded of why this news matters far beyond the Supreme Court's steps. It matters in kitchens like the one in Ben Pumo's restaurant and for individuals and business owners across the country," Rubio said in the article.

He then highlighted a number of his concerns with both the Supreme Court's decision and the health care law itself.

"Obamacare is not the president's signature achievement. It's the signature example of the leadership failures and broken promises that have defined Obama's presidency," Rubio wrote.

The op-ed comes as the Florida senator continues his book tour, raising his profile with appearances and interviews at the same time Romney's campaign goes through the process of deciding on a vice-presidential pick.

Proponents of Rubio, whose parents emigrated from Cuba, say the senator would help Romney by narrowing the Latino gap between him and the president, and also bring votes in the crucial swing state of Florida.

While Rubio has repeatedly said he's not aiming for the VP gig, he has not been shy in boasting about his support for the presumptive GOP presidential nominee. Sources told CNN on Saturday that Rubio will hold a fund-raiser for Romney on Friday.

And a recent CNN/ORC International poll indicated that among those thought to be under consideration by the Romney campaign, Rubio has the highest name recognition.

"President Obama will keep Obamacare. Gov. Romney will repeal it and replace it with market-based reforms that empower individuals to get health insurance without having the IRS chasing them down if they don't. Never has a choice been more clear," Rubio wrote in the op-ed. "Never have the differences in two candidates been so stark."
