The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office and Rusk County Crime Stoppers are asking the public for information leading to the arrest of three suspects responsible for a burglary which occurred at Clayton’s Mini Mart, FM 322 North, in Elderville, Rusk County, Texas. The burglary occurred at approximately 3:00 am, on Saturday, May 28, 2011.

The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office dispatched a Deputy to the scene when a call was received stating the stores alarm system had been activated. Once the deputy arrived he discovered the front door of the business was open and appeared to have been forced open. The Deputy entered the building finding the suspects had already fled the scene. The owner was contacted and upon arrival confirmed that a safe, money, and lottery tickets had been removed from the store. The total amount of loss was approximately $14,000; in addition to approximately $700 in property damage.

Later that afternoon, at approximately 4:00pm, Rusk County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Harrison County Sheriff’s Office reporting a safe had been found on Etheridge Road, in Longview, Harrison County, Texas, which later was identified as the safe missing from the store. The safe had been pried open and dumped beside the roadway.

The business was equipped with surveillance cameras and captured images of the suspects. If anyone recognizes any of the suspects or has information on this crime should call the Rusk County Crime Stoppers at 903-655-TIPS(8477) or call Rusk County Sheriff’s Office at 903-657-3581.

The Rusk County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of person(s) responsible for this crime. Persons giving information to Rusk County Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and will not have to testify in court.

Sheriff Danny R. Pirtle stated any information the public can provide to help get these criminals off our streets would be greatly appreciated. I would like to thank the Rusk County Crime Stoppers for offering a reward to enhance the possibility of locating the three suspects. I would like to commend the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with recovering evidence in this case.
