Rusk County public hearing planned next week
Longview, TX — A decision to transition from assigned precincts to voting centers hangs in the balance for 31,101 registered voters in Rusk County who are invited to attend a 9 a.m. hearing Monday at the Rusk County Courthouse.
The discussion with county officials will involve joining the Countywide Polling Place Program that grants voters the freedom to vote at any provided locations in the county instead of just in their designated voting precinct.
“We’re required by the state to hold a hearing before we can change to voting centers, so everyone is open to attend Monday,” Elections Administrator Kathie Wittner said. “We want to make sure that people don’t use set locations as an excuse not to vote.”
