Sabine river reaching high levels
October 29, 2009 - 5:25pm
TYLER — Rain has caused the Sabine River to rise well above normal for this time of year.
In Longview, the river is currently seven feet above the 25 foot flood gauge according to the National Weather Service out of Shreveport.
Local business owners near the Sabine are already preparing for the worst.
The flooding has caused some problems to oil field operations and the NWS is reminding boaters they should use caution while on the river because of swift currents.
The NWS says severe flooding will occur when the river reaches 35 feet.
