AUSTIN (AP) - The Department of State Health Services says six of the 486 recent cases of salmonella nationwide — happened in Texas.

The known outbreaks were reported in Galveston, Harris, Travis and Willacy counties, plus two cases in Tarrant County.

The bacterial illness has been reported in 43 states since September.

Federal agencies say more than 125 products have been recalled in this growing investigation.

Health officials say exposures to peanut butter and other peanut
