Salvation Army met with good turnout seeking Christmas help
Longview — The Salvation Army has seen a steady stream of people seeking Christmas assistance during the first two days of sign-ups for its Angel Tree program, said Laurie Ramsey, case manager and HR coordinator for the nonprofit agency.
“We’re seeing a lot of new faces,” Ramsey said. “Most of these are people who have never needed help before, but feel they don’t have the resources to provide Christmas presents for their children this year.”
About 45 families came in Monday, she said, and an equal number were expected before the close of business Tuesday. The program will continue to accept applications 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. today through Friday and Monday through Friday of next week.
