Sam Hurd’s fall is complete: 15 years in prison
Dallas — Sam Hurd, who used football to climb from poverty to a life of luxury as an NFL receiver, was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison Wednesday for his role in a drug ring.
Hurd, 27, a former wide receiver with the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears, had pleaded guilty in April to federal drug trafficking charges after he purchased cocaine from an undercover agent.
Before being sentenced, Hurd told the court that “my life has been a train wreck of bad decisions.”
