San Antonio man pleads guilty, autistic girl hurt
SAN ANTONIO (AP) - A San Antonio man faces up to 50 years in
prison after pleading guilty over the scalding of an 8-year-old
autistic girl who had soiled herself.
Sentencing is expected next month for 31-year-old Victor Acosta
II. Prosecutors say Acosta had dated the victim's mother and was
baby sitting the girl.
The San Antonio Express-News reported Thursday that Brenda Solis
is still undergoing skin grafts and physical therapy.
Acosta was arrested in July 2009 after Solis was hospitalized
with 2nd- and 3rd-degree burns on her legs and buttocks. The mother
was not at home when the girl was scalded, allegedly in the shower.
Acosta on Wednesday ended his jury trial by pleading guilty to
injury to a child-serious bodily injury. If convicted, he could
have faced up to life in prison.
