San Antonio Mayor could become new Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
NBC — NBC is reporting that President Barack Obama plans to pick San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro as the next Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
As the mayor of the seventh-largest city in the U.S. Castro has been mentioned as a potential Democratic Vice Presidential candidate.
He stepped onto the national stage at the Democratic National Convention in 2012, where he was the first latino to deliver a keynote address.
It is thought that moving to Washington to join the Obama Administration in a cabinet level position could help his chances of being picked as a Vice Presidential candidate.
If elected, Castro would take the place of Shaun Donovan, who would move to head the Office of Management and Budget.
