Retailers are getting ready for their crowds and are looking to hire.

It’s the best time to apply for jobs because seasonal workers are needed.

Big retailers such as Walmart and TOYS’R’US are expected to hire thousands of seasonal workers.

Walmart is will be hiring more than 55,000 people across the country.

TOYS’R’US will be adding more than 40,000 to their payroll.

KETK spoke to Manager, Steve Tucker, from the Walmart Supercenter in Tyler about his hiring plans.

"We'll also be transferring a lot of our temp associates to part-time status and even our part-time associates to full-time status,” says Tucker.

Tucker says, he encourages East Texans to apply now.

"It's based on the work performance of the associates if they come into the store and they do a great job," says Tucker.

If you're already have a job, it's a great opportunity to make some extra cash.

Locals say, this is good news and everyone should get to work if they can.

Target, Kohls and Best Buy are already going through applications to hire before the holiday rush.

Before interested applicants apply we have some tips from a local employer.

"Even though you don't have a lot of work experience at least have some sort of a resume that you can hand in because there is so much competition out there right now it would help that employee to stand out from the crowd," says John Alber, Manager of ‘Sweet Gourmet’ in Tyler.
