If you find a shopping deal that's too good to pass up... do you buy that gift for yourself?

A recent survey by Roku conducted by Omnipulse found that men are secret "self-gifters".

The survey found that men are more likely than women to hide their gift. They're also more likely to claim that it's from someone else, or create an imaginary friend rather than admit they bought it for themselves.

The National Retail Federation (NRF) says more than half of holiday shoppers will spend about $130 on "self-gifts".

Whether it be for yourself or someone else, the NRF recommends that you check out promotions on CyberMonday.com, which highlights deals from more than 800 online retailers.

The NRF also recommends that if you are not familiar with an online retailer, use a website like BizRate.com and click on the store ratings to find out what other people's shopping experiences have been like.

Be sure to know the retailer's return and exchange policies, and find out who covers the cost of shipping if you need to return something.
