Semi accident sends logs rolling on Highway 7

Lufkin, TX — An accident involving an 18-wheeler and a rental moving van sent a load of logs rolling into a field off State Highway 7 Friday morning.
The accident occurred around 9 a.m. when the Budget rental van headed west on Highway 7, driven by Thomas Warner, 72, of Nacogdoches, attempted an illegal U-turn near the U.S. 69 North on ramp, according to a Department of Public Safety trooper on the scene.
The 18-wheeler driver, Rudy Alberto Caballero, 31, of Teneha was driving behind Warner and did his best stop but couldn’t, DPS officials said. The log truck then rolled, spilling its load into a barb wire fence used to contain horses.
No one involved in the accident was injured but Lufkin Fire EMS checked out both drivers. No horses were injured in the accident either, but nervously sniffed the logs lying at their feet.
Central Volunteer firefighters said they were working on contacting the horses owner. Trooper Tamela Snider said citations could possibly be issued pending the investigation.
