(KETK) - Tyler Tx — Wednesday afternoon, US senator Ted Cruz stopped through east Texas, speaking with a room full of supporters, and making is goals in office very clear.
"We have the lowest labor force participation since 1978. My top priority in office is restoring jobs and economic growth and the reason is simple: that's the top priority for people of Tyler or East Texas, it's a top priority for people all over the state of Texas," said Cruz.
He says the Obama administration has wasted time on social issues, rather than using it to combat unemployment.
"We don't spend even a minute talking about jobs or economic growth ,we spent nearly two months talking guns and the president's effort to take away the second amendment rights of law abiding citizens, and no time talking about fundamental tax reform or regulatory reform," said Cruz.
He says he wants to repeal every word of Obamacare, and feels the situation in Crimea stems from a lack of leadership in the Whitehouse, and says he can't wait for this year's elections.
"I think 2014 is going to be a terrific night for republicans. I believe we're gonna take control of the senate, we're gonna retire Harry Reid as majority leader and the reason is simple, the Obama economic agenda isn't working. We need to defend free market principles and we need to protect our constitutional rights. This is an administration that's violating the Constitution and that's lawless. We need to get back to the principles that made our country strong."
Amongst the questions, many asked him if he planned to run for president.
He said what he wants to do is focus on his current role, and fighting for Texans in Washington.
