Today, Texas Senator John Cornyn will be in Longview to join local law enforcement, elected officials, and advocacy groups for a roundtable discussion on the rising problem of human trafficking in the region. He will also speak on joint efforts to crack down on traffickers and protect victims.

Human trafficking has become a growing problem throughout East Texas as traffickers capitalize on major thoroughfares such as Interstate 20 and State Highway 259.

Representatives from the Longview Police Department and several local non-profits will update the Senator on local efforts to combat human trafficking.

Senator Cornyn will also discuss his Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act, legislation that would complement these local efforts by increasing law enforcement resources, enhancing victims' services, and increasing penalties in an effort to put a stop to child sex trafficking, child pornography, sexual exploitation, and human trafficking.

If we enforced our boarders under the laws we have it would not be a problem. Funny how our disfunctional government jumps back and forth over new laws for illegals. Why not human traffic these cockroaches back into mexico or place them in camps in the desert. Use lethal force if needed as they are selling humans, drugs, guns and you name it. If you hire a illegal, we take your money, cars, property and your bank account. Cockroaches

You're talking about two different issues. Human Trafficking is NOT illegal immigration. You don't "Hire" someone who has been trafficked, you enslave them. These people are NOT criminals, they are victims. You should educate yourself a little before you comment.
