Senator Kennedy's Death, Will it Impact Healthcare?

August 29, 2009 - 5:35pm

TYLER - In a little more than a week, congressmen will meet back up in washington after their month-long break.

But the welcome may not be very warm. That's because first on the agenda is the controversial health care bill, but will things take a sudden twist because of Senator Ted Kennedy's death?

Insiders say the consensus on the left seems to be that Senator Kennedy is now the "patron saint" of health care reform.

But Republicans believe without "the lion," this is yet another hurdle for those for the bill to have to get over.

We caught up with U.S. Congressman Louie Gohmert saturday to see if he thought Kennedy's passing would have an impact on this piece of legislation.

"I know there's already people saying we got to do this for Ted Kennedy but there were things done in John Kennedy's name that have hurt this country that I can't believe John Kennedy would have wanted," Congressman Gohmert says.
